About Ocean Rodeo: Ocean Rodeo is a leading kiteboarding gear manufacturer that has forged success by refusing to compromise on quality, empowering athletes to push their limits in this ever-evolving sport.
Since their inception in 2001, Ocean Rodeo has been no stranger to “firsts.” They introduced the first cold-water drysuits for kiteboarding, engineered the first lightweight airframe kits, and created industry-leading fabrics that are now trusted by nearly every top kite brand out there. What started as a passion project ended up changing the industry and raising the bar for kiteboarding performance.
Superbase was given the opportunity to design a series of kiteboards that highlighted the functional details and materials of Ocean Rodeo’s twin tip collection. With the goal of creating unique artwork and juxtaposing finishes to create interesting textures, we took the challenge seriously while also honoring the quirk. Photography courtesy of Ocean Rodeo.

In this dynamic collaboration, Superbase, under the creative direction of Kelly Dee Williams, was tasked with designing a series of kiteboards for Ocean Rodeo’s latest collection. We approached the project with a commitment to finally capturing their core ethos of progression in product design, born from the relentless winds and cold Pacific swells of the coast of British Columbia.
The design process focused on highlighting the technical excellence of the construction techniques and materials that Ocean Rodeo uses, while infusing each board with distinctive visual flair.
By contrasting finishes and subtle graphic details, Superbase not only enhanced the boards’ aesthetic appeal but also celebrated their functionality. The result was a collection that blends form and function, honoring Ocean Rodeo’s legacy of “firsts.”
This project underscores Superbase’s unique ability to translate a brand’s pioneering spirit into intriguing, contemporary designs in a way never considered before. By balancing creativity with technical precision, Superbase delivered designs that stand out in both performance and style, reinforcing Ocean Rodeo’s position as an industry leader.
